Travel Requirements for Belize​

Passport: Travelers to and from Belize must have a valid passport.

COVID-19 Protocols: As of July 12, 2022, all COVID-19 public health measures at Belize entry points (land and sea) have been lifted.

Entry and Stay Details:

• There is no minimum stay requirement for foreign travelers.

• Travelers can stay in Belize for up to 30 days as tourists. Extensions beyond 30 days are possible by applying at the local immigration office.

• Entry through the Belize Northern Border is available only via the Chetumal Bridge.

• The Western and Northern Borders are open to foreign tourists from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, and all seaports operate from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Getting to Maya Heights Resort from Belize City or Dangriga:

By Air from Belize City

Guests flying to Belize arrive at Philip Goldson International Airport. From here, local airlines (Maya Island Air or Tropic Air) offer flights to Dangriga Town’s municipal airstrip for approximately USD $150. This scenic 25-minute flight takes you along Belize’s coastline and over the Great Barrier Reef.

Our front desk can assist with booking this transfer upon receiving your international flight itinerary.

Upon arrival in Dangriga, our representative will greet you and arrange a shuttle to Maya Heights (for a fee). Refreshing, cool-scented towels and cold drinking water are provided for your comfort.

By Car (Self-Drive)

Rental cars are available at Philip Goldson International Airport.
The drive to Maya Heights takes about 2.5 hours. Please inform our front desk in advance, so we can coordinate and provide travel guidance for your safety. Please note that Belizean roads feature pedestrian crossings, typically marked by yellow signs, so be cautious of speed bumps.

 

Driving Directions:

1. Head East on International Airport Road, towards the exit.

2. Make a slight right and turn onto Western Highway.

3. Continue on Western Highway to the roundabout and take the second exit to stay on the highway.

4. At the next roundabout, you can either take the newly constructed Coastal Highway or continue on the Western Highway toward Belmopan, following the longer scenic route of the Hummingbird Highway. Both options will eventually lead to the Southern Highway.

5. If you take the Coastal Highway, continue until you reach the new roundabout, then turn left onto the Hummingbird Highway.

6. After approximately 5 miles, turn right onto the Southern Highway.

7. Continue for about 10 minutes, passing through Silk Grass Village. After Silk Grass, stay on the main road for another 4 minutes, cross the Freshwater Creek Bridge, and proceed for 500 feet.

8. Turn right at the Maya Heights sign and continue 1.5 miles to the end of the road, where our 24-hour security guard will be stationed. The guard will notify our staff upon your arrival. We look forward to welcoming you

By Bus

​

The James Bus line offers buses from Belize City approximately every two hours during the day. The bus will stop at our road entrance along the Southern Highway, about 500 feet from Maya Heights. Give us a call, and we’ll be happy to pick you up from there.
